If you had told me a few years ago that I would be building a photography business of my own, I’m not sure I would have believed you.
But looking back, it makes so much sense.
Photography became more than simply taking beautiful photos for me. I fell in love with being invited into people’s lives for some of their biggest moments—the nervous excitement before a proposal, the quiet moments before a wedding ceremony, the hugs from family, the happy tears, and all of those little things happening in between that no one planned.
Those became the photographs I cared about the most.
Starting Over & Creating Something of My Own
My journey as a photographer didn’t begin with Cristiane Dugan Photography.
I previously built a photography business alongside a close friend, and that experience taught me so much—not only about photography, but about running a business, working with couples, and figuring out the kind of photographer I wanted to become.
Eventually, I realized it was time for me to take a different direction.
Starting my own company meant starting over in a lot of ways. New name. New website. New portfolio. New goals.
And as scary as starting again can be, it also gave me the opportunity to build something that truly feels like me.
I wanted to create a photography experience that was personal and relaxed while still producing images that feel intentional, elevated, and timeless.
More Than Just Showing Up With a Camera
One thing I’ve learned from photographing weddings is that the experience matters just as much as the photographs.
Most of my couples aren’t professional models—and I don’t expect them to be.
I want you to feel like you’re actually enjoying your wedding day instead of spending the entire day posing for photos.
Of course, I’ll step in and guide you when you need it. I’ll help with your timeline, find the best light, fix the little things, and give you direction when you’re wondering, “Okay… what do I do with my hands?”
But I’ll also know when to step away and simply document what’s happening.
Because sometimes the photograph you didn’t plan becomes the one you love the most.
The Kind of Photography I Want to Create
My approach is a mix of documentary storytelling and an editorial touch.
I love beautiful portraits and thoughtful compositions, but I’m equally drawn to movement, emotion, imperfect moments, and photographs that actually feel alive.
The wind catching your veil.
Your parents watching you during the ceremony.
Your best friend laughing across the table.
The hug that lasts a little longer than usual.
The chaos on the dance floor.
Those are the things I want you to remember.
My goal isn’t just to give you a gallery that looks beautiful today. I want you to open it years from now and immediately remember what that day felt like.
And This Is Just the Beginning
Building Cristiane Dugan Photography has given me the opportunity to create a business around something I genuinely love: people, their stories, and the moments they never want to forget.
I’m still growing. I’m still learning. I’m still dreaming much bigger than where I am today.
But that’s also what makes this chapter so exciting.
So, if you’ve found your way here while planning a wedding, dreaming up a proposal, or simply looking for someone to document a season of your life—welcome.
I’m Cris.
And I’d love to tell your story.
